I am soooo thrilled that I made the cut for two brilliant designers at MScraps! Joyce Paul and Polly and Rufus Designs! They are some of my favs and I have been waiting for them to have CT calls forever! They are also two of the designers who contributed to a very special charity colab to benefit the flood relief in Pakistan. Here is the preview....

Woohooo! I have been VERY neglectful to my poor blog. But I am back again with some art journal pages to share and a new CT to gush about! :) Here are me lastest pages from my art journal that I did this week. I am determined to finish this thing so hopefully I will have lots more pages coming!!!

OK this one is my ode to turning 29 a few weeks ago and I must say it is my favorite just because the journaling is so exactly how I feel about this whole 1 year left till 30 business....

I also have been offered spots on a number of new CT teams!! One of them is a super talented designer Flora aka Three Sweet Chicks. Her templates ROCK by the way you should check her out at her store Here She also has a new charity colab comeing out that is gorgous....here is a sneak peak for you.

Some more art journal pages to share. I know I am really stinking at this blogging thing but hey I am always running behind so I guess at least I'm true to form. The first and second pages use kits from some super talented ladies who go by the designs name ViVa Artistry and you should really check them out over at thedigichick.com. The last uses stuff from the ever incredible Tangie Baxter who got me started with this whole art journal mess. :) I love it! I never realized how nice it is to make something so personal and expresive just for yourself. These pages are some of my all time favorites and I'm sure I'll keep making more to add to that list.

Art Journal Valentine

My husband is sooooo sweet and he sent me a bunch of poems on Valentines Day through my e-mails, text messages and facebook. So I kept finding sweet little things he wrote for me all day and even a couple days later. But I didn't think about doing anything since we were on vacation and were going to be at the parades all day. Well this is my attempt at making it up to him since I was such a horrible wife this Valentine's Day. So here is a belated valentine for my Soulmate and the most wonderful husband who ever lived!

I would copy the journaling but it is kinda mushy so if you really want to read it I think you can click the image to enlarge or look in my scrapbook graphics gallery and you can see it better there. Hope everyone has a great day!!!

A Couple more pages

I have a few more pages to share with you from my Art Journal, which I am terribly behind on. The first is my take on the verb Believe. The second is something I came up with for the verb accept. It is symbolic of my journey of acceptance. The negative emotions are at the bottom in the darker part with the positive emotions at the top in the lighter and happier part of my life. Fulfill-week 1 My Art Journal

My word for 2010 is FULFILL. Here is my week one art journal page. I really like the happy tone it took on, not in the best of moods right now so I am glad it came out cheerful.

I want to try and get in another page this week about fear and courage. Hopefully later in the week. I got to buy a ton of stuff on sale for $1 from Kasia Designs so I am super excited to scrap some with that. This is my first of my Kasia pages and I am sure many more to come and also some CT work I have been working on and maybe a freebie or two also. Keeping this short so I can get to bed and get some sleep tonight because last night was not the greatest. Happy scrapping!

Art Journal

I had the opportunity to join Studio Tangie's Art Journal Caravan and decided to hop on board. Here is the cover of my journal and I decided I was going to go digital but print my pages at home and then add them to a moleskine journal, which I still have to purchase :) But that will allow me to do some non digital stuff also if I get the urge.

Looking forward to the journey and one of our first week assignments was to pick a word for 2010 and my word is FULFILL. I think it descrides what I want to get from this year for lots of reasons but mostly because I have a tendancy to start things and not finish and my goal for this art journal is to finish it. Hope everyone's new year started great!! Be back with more to share soon :)

A new start

So my poor blog has been VERY neglected!! I am starting a new year and I want to give my blog a fresh new start too. I want to post more about me, my life, my photos, what I have going on and my layouts of course :) I am going to participate in Tangie's Art Journal Caravan and I am really excited about doing something for ME! I think it will help me to have something that I do simply as a way to express myself. I am still giving designing a break and I am really not sure what will happen with that because I just don't forsee having the time needed to devote to it. I still have my one store open at CSD so I guess we'll see. I want to share my art journal pages on here so be on the lookout for that and of course the occasional freebie too :) But for now hopefully I can give my blog a new look and such before the new year. I'll be back and enjoy the last little bit of this decade!! I have big plans for the next one!

Some pics and stuff

So I decided that I wanted to schedule a photo shoot with the girls at least once a month. I don't feel like I take enough pictures of my girls. (at least not good pics) Anyways we went Sunday for our October shoot (actually the 1st of November but whos counting?) we went to the arboretum which was PACKED! I really didn't know so many people go there just to hang out, we only have ever gone to do pictures for people, even though we have a family membership. But we really need to start going more, we bought a sandwhich and laid out a big blanket and they had a band playing, it was really cool. The pictures on the other hand did not go so well. We forgot the battery for my newer camera so I had to use the OLD digital rebel (like the first one!) but at least I brought it I guess. We also forgot the sippy cups, huge mistake! Neither of the girls wanted to cooperate but here are a few of the ones I could salvage.

anyways at least I got some new pics and hopefully next month goes better. I also have another freebie for you from the SAS-y lady contest. It was my week 2 entry called Soul Sisters. Hope you enjoy it!

Also, I was having so much fun being a Studio Crew temp at scrapbook graphics they asked me to stay full time!! YAY! I am so thrilled to be there and it is one of my very favorite sites anyway so it couldn't get much better! But they are having a chat tomorrow at 9pm EST and the theme is Color my World. Its been a while

Wow! I have been seriously neglecting my poor little blog!! Well I have been super busy with school lately so you'll have to excuse my absence. I also have had to look at things and make a decision to take a major step back from designing for the time being. I closed one of my stores and will not have anything new coming out anytime soon other than maybe a template or mini here and there. But I have been having great fun this month as a Studio temp for Scrapbook Graphics! It has been soooo great, seriously the best gig in town so if you ever get the chance be sure to snatch it up!! Their designers are some of my favorites and look at all of the cool stuff I have made using their products.

Awesome News and my first tutorial!

I have a new store!! Coolscrapsdigital.com has been kind enough to offer me a home and my store is officially open!! In celebration of the grand opening and my birthday I am having a sale all month!!!

It is also CSD's birthday and they have lots of fun stuff going on this month! Including a blog train, lots of sales and a treasure hunt! Here are some previews...

OK now for my first ever tutorial!! This is going to show how I do the soft color efect that the pictures in my header have been treated with. This is created using Photoshop CS so I am not sure how it will relate to other programs but the general process I am sure can be duplicated. I am going to use my favorite picture of my oldest baby girl as an example. So first you want to open and resize. I like to use a 4x6 to start with most layouts so that is what this is set too. Here is your first screen...

now you want to go to Image>Image size and use these settings for a print resolution picture.

next I like to sharpen a little so I go to filter>sharpen>unsharp mask...

Now I like to keep the amount low and use the radius to do maost of the sharpening to avoid over pixilating. The settings I used here are amount=40, radius=4.0, and threshold=0.

The next step is to duplicate the picture 2 times so that you end up with 3 copies of the same picture. You can either right click and select duplicate layer or you can go to Layer>Duplicate Layer. Now you go to your second layer and change the blending mode to screen and then to the top layer and change the blending mode to soft light. After this select the circle at the bottom of the layer pallete and choose chanel mixer. Your screen should look something like this...

Now check the monochrome box at the bottom and I always use 100% red channel because of the soft glowy look it gives skin in portraits but you can experiment with different % in each channel if you would like. Here is what my box looks like...

Now finally take the channel mixer layer and pull it down below both of the duplicate layers. Now you can adjust the opacity on the top two layers to get the look you are going for and you are done! Here is the final screen and you can also see the final picture in my header also.

So I don't know if anyone has heard of Once Upon A Child but if you have kids who wear clothes up to size 14 you should check it out for sure! I LOVE that place! You can sell your gently used clothes and also get great deals on brand name clothes that aren't stained or completely worn out. I love Old Navy, Baby Gap, Target and Children's Place for the girls because they seem to fit well on my TALL children and I can get them super cheap there! Jeans are only like $5.50 for Aubrey (3T) and shirts I can get anywhere from $2.50-$4.50! Awesome savings! So if there is one in your area be sure to check it out cause I know everyone is looking to save a little money here lately :)

Week 3

Here is my entry for week 3 of Scrapping Survivor and I am in love with it! It may just be the content but I really love this LO. I used two of the poems my husband has written me and turned them into a letter from me to him. I have been meaning to scrap some of his poems for a while now and I am going to have to do more now that this one came out so nice :) I love my hubby!!!

The letter reads....

Chris,

I am writing to tell you....I see your face in the ocean, see your body in the sand, hear your voice in the wind, feel your essence around me. I’m many miles away but still you are with me. If you feel how I feel I know you miss me. I just want you to know that...In the morning I think of you, before bed I think of you, I want to know what you are doing. If you’re happy or sad, if you are thinking of me. I’m thinking of you, cause I miss you. I miss you, your eyes, your smile, the way you look at me. I miss that I can’t talk to you all night. I miss you touch. I miss your hugs. I miss your kisses. I miss YOU. But, soon I will be back. Just thought you should know.

Woohoo!! I decided to expand on my LoveStory kit and make it a full kit. Here is the preview...

OK so I made it to the second round of Scrapping Survivor!! Yay :) But I forgot to do the immunity challenge so I am going to need lots of votes this weekend! I may have another bribe for you by then too (hehehe). So here is my second entry....

So here is my final layout for the Scrapping Survivor at Ginger Scraps. It is a picture I took of my husband's cousin at her wedding in Jamaica. The water looks oh so beautiful and I thought it would work perfect with this kit. But anyways it got chosen as a gallery standout and is featured on their blog!!! :) Happy dance from me! And for some more cool news this layout I did of my daughter and niece was chosen for layout of the day at Brownie Scraps!! I made it with Page Frocks new kit Nature's Playground. It is a fabulous kit, very versitile, and will be on sale tomorrow 50% if you want to pick it up you can do so at Designs in Digital here.

I don't know what I was thinking! I signed up for two contests at once :) The scrapping survivor starts tomorrow at Ginger Scraps and I just finished my week 1 entry for the Battle of the CTs

I think it turned out nice although it does look alot like one I did previously :) I made it using Page Frocks kit In my Dreams and you can pick that up here. Here is the preview and another layout I did.

So I got another CT position on the Designs in Digital creative team!!! Yay :) The first designer I got to work for is Tiger Lily Designs and her kit In a Land Far Far Away is simply gorgeous!!! Seriously a must have you can pick it up at Designs in Digital here and it is in three parts so be sure to grab them all! Here is the preview and some layouts I did with the kit of my adorable baby girls :)

My New Blog!

So here is my new blog that will be dedicated completely to scrapping!! I am so excited and decided it was a must since if I posted all of this scrap stuff in the photography blog it would have taken over!! So first off on a happy dance note...I have gotten my first CT position!!! Yay :) I will be working with the very sweet Lori aka Page Frocks and her designs can be found at Designs in Digitals here. I can't wait to get started and I will be sharing lots of her beautiful designs and the creations I make with them on here. Also more fun news my layouts were chosen for layout of the day TWO DAYS IN A ROW at Brownie Scraps!!! Talk about make my week!! Here are the lovely layouts of my two adorable nieces :)

The first layout is my niece Olivia and the kit used is Fantasy by Line Designs and the second layout is my niece Maddison and the kit used is Whimsical Poetry by Kasia Designs. So a BIG thank you to the girls at Brownie Scraps who thought my layouts were worthy! So more to come soon but I am glad I could start this off on such a positive note :)
